Soothing music to my ears in the London Underground

Sometimes, music can truly take you away. We've all heard the musicians playing in bus and train stations, performing on street corners.  But did you know that in London this process requires a busker's audition and an annual license?

According to the Underground's website, "The London Underground (LU) busking scheme was set up in 2003 to manage what was previously an illegal and unregulated activity."

Now, more than 400 buskers play in two-hour time slots to 3000 music events every week in Tube stations. So the next time you pass a busker - pause to listen, pay a compliment, or share a smile.  It is their job to entertain us, and our job to appreciate what they do.
